Canada election 2025: Carney pledges $2B for auto industry amid Trump tariffs

On Wednesday, Liberal Leader Mark Carney said if the ruling Liberals won an April 28 election, his government would create a C$2 billion fund to boost the auto sector's competitiveness and will protect the jobs of workers affected by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs. "It will fortify the entire Canadian auto supply chain from raw materials to finished vehicles. Because we're not just protecting the president. We're looking to build the future.
