From the producers of Channel 4's "The Tube" comes what is supposed to be ITV's answer to "Top of the Pops". It's the hottest nightclub on the telly, The Roxy! Presented by David "Kid" Jensen and Kevin Sharkey, this series used a weekly chart distributed by Satellite Media Services, produced by Capital Radio and compiled by the Media Research Information Bureau (MRIB). You could hear "Kid" count them down every Sunday afternoon from 5pm, in competition with BBC Radio 1's own chart show. However, it's episode 6, and by this point, there's still some growing pains. This week: Going straight into the opening sequence this time. New entry this time: Boy George without Culture Club and "Sold". New at #9, "Who's That Girl?". Why, it's Madonna in a music video! Cliff Richard with a recycled performance of "My Pretty One", #6. Coming in at #45, Swing Out Sister and "Fooled by a Smile". Kenny G plays "Songbird", and it's "absolutely live" at #22. There's a dance performance, and it sounds like Kenny's improvising. Talk about a "train wreck". New at #57, The Beastie Boys and "She's On It". David talks to Boy George. Still at #1, "It's a Sin" with a music video. "The Kid" is talking over Kevin (or is it Kid and Kevin?). This is a Saturday rebroadcast, but rather than redub it, they decide to record on top of each other and on top of the music to boot. Amateur effort. Don't ya just hate it when Tyne Tees can't get their act together? Oh, hey, they turned the Roxy stage into a big screen TV. This episode has not been previously uploaded.
