The evidence amount should not be the biggest factor for difficulty multipliers, and ghosts shouldn't be the main source of money if you can identify a solid third of them based on how it hunts. 3 evidence caps out at 4x, then gives you much less for any additional modifiers. 2 evidence, which is already a big step since half of these ghost abilities are only learned through a wiki, caps out at 5x. 1 evidence? I don't know, it's definitely a lot more, but at that point why not just go 0? You're identifying them through hunts anyways. This system just sucks, it's not engaging at all, and it feels really demoralizing and punishing for people that just want to grind Nightmare or something. Perfect nightmare games take 10x the time, effort, and risk that you would put into an 11x difficulty like this. The reward? Less than half of this. And the thing is, these 0 sanity 0 evidence runs just skip over the entire thing that makes the large maps difficult. You're not spending more time finding a room or transporting equipment. You bring in 4 items and listen, that's all there is. It's disappointing that you're very much encouraged to just not play the game. I hope they fix this someday, but it doesn't look like they will.
