Hi everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and be showing you how to install this BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover on our 2024 RAM 1500. Now a cover is going to have a ton of different benefits from fuel economy to keeping your stuff just out of sight from people wandering by, adding to some security of your bed. But a hardcover like this, specifically has better security because it's a lot harder to get into, soft cover if someone could come up with a knife and cut through it. Whereas this is going to be half inch thick panels made out of aluminum with a foam core. So again, very durable and hard to get through. And then you're still getting the fuel economy benefits of reducing drag and just keeping your truck looking nice. If there's a mess in the bed, we can keep it covered up. The MX4 is a tri-fold cover, and really all that means is, it's set up in the series of panels that fold up in three main sections. The cords to release them are gonna be locked up away whenever the tailgate is closed, so no one can mess with it. But you can have it open partially like this if you wanted to have most of the access to your bed or you could fully open it up, which would block your back window, just leans against it to keep this from falling back down whenever you're in motion. So if you did need more complete access to the bed of your truck, this is how you'd get it. Now a lot of people aren't big fans of it blocking the back window, and this one especially having to lean against the back window. There are some paths there to prevent actual cover to cab contact, but like I said, people just aren't a fan of this sometimes and that's totally understandable. Some alternatives you might consider is something like a BAK Revolver. Again, those are hard covers, but they roll up into this cylinder at the back. It'll sit above your bed rails and partially block the back window, but it's not gonna fully block it, and back makes a pretty good product. So whether you go with the MX4 like this, or one of our revolvers, I think you're gonna get a solid cover. If you like the trifold design though, but you don't like how it leans against the cab, there is another option that I would recommend and that's the LOMAX Stance. It's again that same folding panel style, which is pretty quick and easy to operate, but it'll just sit straight up and down and not make contact with the cab. It's what I have on my own personal truck and I like it quite a lot. Really, the two share a lot of similarities. That's just the main difference that I would see and take into consideration when picking this out for my own truck. Now all throughout the cover you've got weather ceiling to keep water out. All these rubber strips on the sides, the front, the back, is gonna help keep things weather tight. Water's still prone to maybe getting stuck in the side rails. Luckily these are designed with drain tubes so that water will collect and drain out of the truck bed. The nice touch that the MX4 has, that most other folding covers like this don't have. Now this particular cover on this particular truck is on a short bed RAM. So it's maybe not as much of a concern here, but if you're looking at this cover for a 1500 that has a slightly longer bed, you might be wondering about clearance for something like a fifth wheel head. And from the tallest point in the bed, to the lowest point of the cover, it's gonna be 20 in one quarter of an inch. So if your fifth wheel head sits up, I'm gonna say 20 inches just for the sake of extra clearance, then you'll be good. Any higher than that and you might not be able to close the cover on top of it. The other nice thing is this is a really quick install, no drilling required, and it's just really straightforward. There's not a lot of steps to it. So we can walk you through that process now, and you can see how it gets installed. The first step of your installation will vary depending on your bedliner or lack thereof. If you have a drop-in bedliner, you can skip ahead. But for a spray in liner or no liner at all, you will need to install the seal on the bulkhead of the beds. Now you'll wanna clean the surface off. This truck is brand new, so we're just going to slowly peel the backing back. And I'm gonna go probably actually right up to the edg
