He was one of the few players to start in every school basketball game throughout his career. Sports Illustrated stated he was one of the best available point guards coming up through the college ranks. Surprising Chris was never drafted in the National Basketball League’s annual draft coming out of school. Instead he ended up playing for 5 years in the CBA, the developmental league to the NBA. After finally winning a championship and being name the league’s Most Valuable Player, Chris Childs got the NBA call he was waiting for from the New Jersey Nets (now known as the Brooklyn Nets) to try out for the team.
