The Cisco Kid (1950) — Season 1, Episode 1: "Boomerang." Starring Duncan Renaldo as Cisco and Leo Carrillo as Pancho. The first episode of the first television series ever filmed in color — and the one that started everything. Two bandits are riding the frontier wearing Cisco and Pancho's faces. They rob. They kill. And every witness in the territory is certain they have seen the Cisco Kid do it. When the real Cisco and Pancho are thrown in jail for crimes they didn't commit, the only way to prove their innocence is to break out — and find the impostors before the law finds them first. Selection Sunday is tomorrow. The brackets drop. The underdogs get their shot. And before any of that — here is the original underdog story: two men wrongly accused, no allies, no backup, riding out to prove the truth in a world that has already made up its mind. This is also the episode that started something bigger than anyone knew in 1950. The Cisco Kid was the first television series in history to be filmed in color — at a time when virtually no one in America owned a color TV set. The producers filmed in color anyway. They were right. Based on O. Henry's character from 1907, Cisco was Hollywood's first Latino hero of the television era — a Robin Hood of the frontier who shot guns out of hands rather than men out of saddles, and always rode away laughing. Duncan Renaldo was 46 years old when this first episode aired. Leo Carrillo was 69. Between them they made 156 episodes over six seasons. This is where it began. 📺 Director: Derwin Abrahams 🎭 Cast: Duncan Renaldo, Leo Carrillo, Jane Adams, Byron Foulger, Stephen Chase, Edmund Cobb, Lee Phelps 📅 Aired: 1950 | ⏱ Runtime: 26 min 🏢 Production: Ziv Television Programs | Executive Producer: Frederick W.
