Lusaka - Mumbwa - Kasempa on the D181. About 450 km. Road crosses two pontoons. Crossing fee (2015) is ZMW 56 each crossing. The section after Mumbwa is pretty bad. Many potholes and very sandy. Avoid in the rainy season. The section between the pontoons is good. The last section between the pontoon and Kasempa is not very good either but better than the section after Mumbwa. Note of caution. On Between Mumbwa and Lusaka there are many charcoal trucks at night, and most of them are in a deplorable state with no lights. Be careful not to hit them. Also be aware that the gravel road (D181) can become incredibly dusty and trucks will be unable to see you if you try to overtake. Due to the state of the road overtaking trucks should only be done with extreme care. In early 2015 a RDA tender was out for this road, but as of Oct-2015 it hasn't been awarded.
