In less than four months following his initial arrest, a man faced charges once again at an Akron car lot for attempting to steal a vehicle. Around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the police responded to a call from Akron Auto Wrecking reporting an ongoing attempt to steal a vehicle on their property. Upon arrival, law enforcement observed damage to a previously secured gate and discovered that a blue Subaru Impreza was missing. A subsequent search led them to Perkins and North College streets, where they found the vehicle. The 28-year-old man was still inside, prompting his arrest on charges of breaking and entering, auto theft, and two drug-related offenses. This incident marked the second time the same individual attempted to steal a vehicle from the same car lot. In a prior occurrence in October, employees thwarted his theft attempt by using a forklift to suspend him more than 20 feet in the air until police intervened. Officers responded to the reported address regarding a breaking and entering incident and the theft of a vehicle. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel engaged with an employee who reported that their yard had been unlawfully accessed, and a car had been stolen after someone cut the lock. Subsequent examination of surveillance footage enabled them to provide a detailed description of the individual responsible for the break-in and vehicle theft. Metro officers later identified a vehicle matching the given description parked in a nearby lot. Upon approaching, they encountered Alexander Funk inside the allegedly stolen vehicle. Despite evidence from video footage matching his description and identifying him through distinctive purple pants, Funk denied involvement in the theft and the break-in. Notwithstanding his claims, a search revealed a bag in his possession containing a drug scale with traces of cocaine. Funk asserted that the scale was used for measuring diamonds, which he purportedly cuts and sells. Additionally, miscellaneous wiring and a baggie containing four Xanax bars were found inside the bag. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
