Double Disc Court, or DDC, is a two-person team flying disc sport invented in 1974 and still enjoyed by players of all ages. It combines the strategy of chess with the back-and-forth of doubles tennis. The teams defend a court, 13 meters squared, separated by a zone 17 metres from the opponents' court, making the field about as long as an ultimate field is wide. With two discs in play, the threat of an attack is constant. A team scores a point when they throw a disc into the other court that the opposing team does not catch, or when an opponent throws out of bounds. Two points are scored when the other team touches both discs at the same time. Teams change sides every 5 points and games are played to 15 points. Competition discs weigh 110 grams and soar aerodynamically across the field, usually with a backhand or upside-down throw. As in ultimate, most games are self-officiated, driven by Spirit of the Game. DDC is recognized as a flying disc sport by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), which is the global body recognized by the International Olympic Committee, with nearly 100 national member associations. DDC is played by men’s, women’s, and mixed teams, and the promotion of gender equity and inclusion within the sport is paramount, matching the principles of the Olympic movement.
