I was not going to keep this video, turned out to be the most watched of my vids.. so weird... This is a prelude I composed just for this instrument as a test recording, it immersed me in sound. This audio has been used by dubbers, if you use it please let me know. :) The Magnus was released in the late 1960's, it sounds like a mix between a Hurdygurdy, accordion and bagpipes. A portable electronic, wind blown Reed Organ that can really kick if backed up by a rock band or in many different environments. A rich and novel sound with lots of natural harmonics that can not be emulated with electronics. A tone colour that would stand out on its own in a wall of sound. Imagine one of these opening for an indie rock song, a school musical, a church choir, a dance dub, a salsa or Latin dance, Afro-world music, Reggae, blues its endless, all cool ! In the 1960's Magnus introduced the Electric Chord Organs. These are still considered Reed Organs, and are wind blown (like harmonicas) with its own compressor and air flows out underneath. I found it to be very lush in tone and interesting in its harmonics although I found tricky to play. More info can be found here http://dbeconline.com/magnus/insidelo...
