Is your vehicle's climate control system making a weird clicking noise? Maybe you need to replace the blend door actuator! DESCRIPTION Your vehicle uses a fan to blow air through your vents. That air is heated when it passes through your heater core, and cools when passing through your AC core. The blend door is what controls the airflow, and that in itself is controlled by your blend door actuator. When this breaks, the electronic controls are no longer able to control the airflow temperature. TIME-FRAME I was able to do this twice in one day, in about 5 hours (I forgot to plug the part in the first time). However, some people reported it taking them an entire day or two. TOOLS You will need needle nose pliers, a Flat screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a simple MM socket set with ratchet and extension, and a magnet (optional, to keep the screws under the defroster grill from falling into the vents). ABOUT Using this video as a pictorial reference, follow the instructions in the Haynes manual for a heater core replacement. Stop as soon as the dash has been pulled forward, and replace the actuator as shown in this video. Plug the part back in, and put it all back together by following the instructions in reverse. TIPS 1. Plug the part in before reinstalling the dash 2. The back two screws on the actuator are too difficult to screw in with the actuator in place. Instead, you can place these two screws where they go on the car, and then cut the tabs on the actuator so they'll slide onto the screws. 3. Make a video of your install and post it on YouTube. It will help others immensely. 4. Use a magnet to keep the screws on top of the dash from falling into the air vents. 5. As shown in the video, if your car says it isn't in park after you put it back together, you can move the indicator using the adjustment wheel. 6. If, after you're done, the key won't turn, don't panic. Grab your steering wheel, and turn it left and right with all your might until the key will turn.
