For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1968 Gibson ES 345 Walnut, Varitone. This guitar is in excellent condition for its age. All original, super clean, wonderful, great neck, Varitone, superb dynamics and wonderful pickups: plays like a dream. A superb, collection worthy guitar inside and out. Weighs 8.8 lbs. and has a narrow nut width of 1 9/16 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Laminated maple top, back, and sides with a maple central block, one-piece mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard with 22 wide jumbo frets and inlaid pearl split-parallelogram position markers (no inlay at the 1st fret). Inlaid pearl "Gibson" headstock logo with pearl crown inlay. Individual Kluson Deluxe tuners with single-ring Keystone plastic buttons. Two humbucking pickups with black plastic surrounds. Shorter five-layer (black/white/black/white/black) plastic pickguard that does not extend past the bridge pickup. Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way selector and six-position Vari-tone switch. Gold/black plastic knobs. With gold circular plate around the Vari-tone switch. Tune-O-Matic retainer bridge and trapeze tailpiece with raised diamond on cross-bar. This guitar is near mint condition. Housed in its original Gibson black hardshell case with orange plush lining. Introduced in Spring 1959 as the Stereo Guitar, the ES-345T was the first Gibson electric to incorporate the Stereo-Varitone circuitry. Pitched as an intermediate model between the 335 and the 355, and originally retailing at $345.00, the 345 remained in production until 1985.
