Latest Drug Trends, Changing Overdose Demographics, and Perspectives from Hamilton County

Hosted on March 16th, 2022: Nationwide, we continue to see changes in drug trends and the demographics of those experiencing overdoses. As a result of these trends, public health needs to adapt to be more inclusive of groups that do not necessarily identify with ‘traditional’ harm reduction services when providing tools to support recovery. Expanding services allows staff to reach more people and start conversations to aid them in their recovery journey. During this webinar, you will hear from a practicing physician from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine about the shifts in overdose trends and support programs he is seeing firsthand and managing in the Emergency Department. You will also hear from a Hamilton County Public Health Epidemiologist about the trends in drug supplies related to an increase of overdoses in traditionally non-opioid users. And finally, you’ll hear from a HCPH Harm Reduction Specialist with lived experience about a few innovative programs implemented in Hamilton County aimed at reaching underserved communities.
