We are building a modern poultry farm while using Murals to tell our community's story; beautify our neighborhood and create a unique working environment for everyone. The current plan is for three pen houses / poultry sheds with a total capacity of 45,000 layer chickens; preferably ISA Brown Layers. There are new structures in this update. The poultry Egg Tray Washing Machine building; the Poultry Waste Incineration building and the 14 meters high Water Stand. We anticipate beginning operations on July 10, 2022. 1. Poultry Shed Houses or Barns for our preferred layers which are ISA Brown ---The Dimensions are important regarding caged or deep litter system. At Petros Farms, we designed our high-rise pen houses according to the cages we selected. We are using Big Dutchman poultry equipment. ---Open-sided poultry barns or houses in hot climates like Nigeria, should have their long axis in the East-West orientation. This is the most critical factor in design especially for beginners in poultry farming. ---Our Poultry Sheds are High-rise, Caged Layer Facilities / Production buildings. This allows Poultry Manure from the cages to be fall into the storage area below. The advantages of this is that the poultry droppings may accumulate for several months or more before buildings are cleaned out. 2. Chicken Feed warehouse - ISA BROWN Layers consume lots of feed. An adult Isa Brown Hen will consume about 112 grams of feed per day. It is absolutely important for anyone starting a commercial poultry business to have constructed a building for feed storage. 3. Feed mill building: While this is not important, but it should be considered during the design of the feed warehouse. In our poultry feed warehouse, we have a section that we can use for mini feed production. The reason why you want to consider this is because even if you don't make your own feed; you still have to preferably use a feed mixer when transitioning from one feed to another. 4. Egg Storage Room - this is also important as you do not want eggs stored in the pen houses. Assume commercial layers lay eggs every 24 hours. Depending on your capacity or anticipated expansion plans, you can the decide the size of your egg storage room. 5. Poultry Farm Administrative Building - this is where your customers can conduct businesses. Some farmers might overlook an office space. It is important for your customers to have a place they can be comfortable and conduct business. 6. Poultry Water Tank Stand - Chickens drink a lot of water. The water: feed ratio normally ranges from 1.5:1 to 2:1. However; hot weather can increase that ratio to as high at 5:1. For example, ISA Brown consuming 100 grams of feed per day will drink 150 to 200 mL of water per day. This is 150 – 200 L/1000 birds/day. These commercial layers prefer cool water. To achieve this, make sure the tank stand in in shed or roofed. Paint the water tanks white. 7. Poultry workers residential building - you need some workers to live onsite. 8. Livestock Incinerator Building - Normal mortality ranges from 0.05% per week in young to mid-age ISA Brown layers, and on up to 0.18% per week in older age flocks. We should anticipate a cumulative death rate of 5.7% at 75 weeks. This implies 0.05% of our flock per day as routine loss are: 1. Pen 1, 10,500 capacity: 6 daily loss 2. Pen 2, 15,120 capacity: 8 daily loss 3. Pen 3, 19, 152 capacity: 10 daily loss With a potential loss of 24 ISA Brown chickens per day, appropriate disposal method is necessary. The disposal of Carcass remains one of the major problems facing poultry meat and egg producers in Nigeria. These dead chickens should be disposed o in a safe and environmentally safe method. The current method for disposal of poultry carcasses in Nigeria is primarily burial. Unfortunately, this poses a tremendous risk of environmental contamination and concerns for groundwater quality. This is why we chose to proceed with Incineration. Incinerating poultry waste is recognized as one of the biologically safest methods of disposal provided the equipment meets certain emission or regulatory requirements. eliminating the threat of disease. https://petrosfarms.com/ #batterycage #isabrown #poultryfarming #poultrybusiness #poultryfarmconstruction
