Large Wood Placement | Klamath River Restoration | Restoring at Scale | SERIES

Our Klamath restoration team knew that "large wood" is an important feature of stream systems, but time was not on our side. We needed immediate, large-scale habitat enhancement for returning salmon and steelhead. So, we jumpstarted this natural process by using a helicopter to place hundreds of downed trees in key tributaries. These large wood features serve to slow the water down, form channel features, create cover for fish and wildlife, and provide habitat for insects that fish like to eat.
