Every traveller entering Australia next week will be forced into 14-day quarantines as the federal government takes control of closed hotels to isolate the most dangerous source of COVID-19. Prime Minister Scott Morrison revealed the plan – which would come into effect on Sunday – would mean all travellers would be forced to stay in repurposed hotels in a desperate bid to slow the spread of the killer coronavirus. The Australian Defence Force has been called in to help oversee the radical isolation measure. Mr Morrison said travellers would be detained in the state their flight landed and they would not be able to travel interstate before the two-week window expired. "If their home is in South Australia or in Perth or in Tasmania and they have arrived in Melbourne, they will be quarantining in Melbourne. If it's in Sydney, it will be in Sydney,” he said. The Prime Minister thanked the public for adhering to strict social distancing measures after revealing movement around Sydney and Melbourne dropped by 80 per cent. He said the public’s adherence to social isolating is why the national cabinet can target overseas travellers.
