#TularamMemorialGoodShepherdSchool #Gunjung #DimaHasao We were invited to the annual sports meet of Tularam Memorial Good Shepherd School at Gunjung. Gunjung is around 30 kms from Haflong and is ROOHI's late father's village. Tularam Memorial school, named after Tularam Senapati, the Great Dimasa Kachari chief, was started by a few concerned villagers of Gunjung who were worried about the lack of quality education in the village and so they decided to start a school of their own. In the beginning, the school founders faced great difficulty in convincing parents and villagers to support the school and to send their children to study there. But from 1993 onwards the school has managed to slowly and steadily become one of the best schools in the district after the school management was handed over to Jesuits. It was a great experience to spend the day with such bright, cheerful and smart children at the school and it gives us hope that the next generation of Gunjung is in safe hands.
