She earned her MFA in Tapestry Weaving from West Dean College of Art and Conservation in 2015. Her tapestries are characterised by their complex designs, inspired by nature, mythology, and literature, and they feature vibrant colours and rich textures. Margaret Jones has received numerous accolades throughout her career. She was shortlisted for the Kate Derum Award in 2013 and won the Valerie Power Award in 2014. In 2015, she received both the QEST and ATA Scholarships. She earned the Cordis Showcase Prize in 2016 and several honours in 2019, including the People's Prize at Heallreaf 3 and the Griffin Prize from the American Tapestry Alliance. In 2021, she was awarded an SDC Fellowship and the Gane Trust Award. Margaret Jones invites audiences to delve into her captivating tapestries, revealing unexpected narratives from our day-to-day lives. Her artistry incorporates historical allusions, mythological themes, and poetic imagery to create visually stunning tapestries that go beyond traditional motifs.
