D Ering WL Sanctuary has huge potential for Eco tourism PCCF Wildlife

Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary here in East Siang District today, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife & Bio-diversity) cum Chief Wildlife Warden, M.Surya Prakash, IFS said that, the DEWS has the huge potential to become the most favoured and preferred Eco-tourism site in the state given its additional beauty of this sanctuary located in the riverine island of Siang river basin. Prakash, who visited the Sanctuary at Sibiyamukh Range today afternoon by cruising over the Siang river on boat while returning from Eastern Arunachal tour of visit to other wildlife parks there, was glad to see the healthy grassland of the D. Ering Memorial WL Sanctuary. “The landscape beauty of this several fragments of riverine island Sanctuary with mix of grassland and thick forest makes the DEWS outstanding from other sanctuaries and national parks here in the state. This places are best for Eco-tourism which will attract tourists from all corner if managed well while enhancing the infrastructures, as Pasighat is well connected via Air from Pasighat Airport, Railways from nearby Murkong Seleck, Jonai, Assam and by waterways from Siang river/Brahmaputra”, added Prakash. When asked about the issues concerning the management of the sanctuary like illegal cattle grazing inside the Sanctuary from Assam side crossing over from Arunachal-Assam boundary at Miriakal areas, PCCF assured his best steps to resolve the problem by consulting with the DFO and staffs of the sanctuary. While quoting about the lost glory of the DEWS which once happened to be the home of Royal Bengal Tiger, PCCF Prakash also showed his determination to re-install Tigers in the sanctuary besides protecting other rare flora & fauna of DEWS by discouraging hunting and other frequent illegalities in and around the sanctuary. PCCF M. Surya Prakash was briefed about the present condition and status of the sanctuary by Divisional Forest Officer, Tasang Taga and Range Forest Officer, Sibiyamukh, Domek Koyu. On DEWS’s part, DFO Tasang Taga appealed the PCCF to give extra care and attention to D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary which is plagued by staff shortages, limited infrastructures etc due to which this sanctuary’s all side porous boundaries can’t be controlled or protected. DEWS needs exceptional attention in regards to adequate posting of male field staffs like Forester, Forest Guard etc as this sanctuary is surrounded by fringe villages all of who are traditionally hunters and always make attempts to intrude into the sanctuary, added Tasang Taga.
