One of our favourite things to do, living in Edinburgh, is to visit the lovely Inchcolm Island & Abbey in the Firth of Forth. You can get the ferry, the 'Maid of the Forth', from Hawes Pier in South Queensferry which takes approximately half n' hour to get to Inchcolm. When you arrive you get about 3 hours to spend on the island. The island has a lovely ruined abbey which is great fun to explore and there are also lots of old wartime fortifications and buildings to explore, including the old ammunition tunnel which you see in the video. If you can, it's well worth climbing the abbey tower for fabulous views over the Forth to Edinburgh and beyond. The island is often referred to as the 'Iona of the East' and it's easy to see why. This makes a great day out and, if it's a nice day, take a picnic with you and sit on one of the lovely beaches. This video is part of my 'Life in Scotland' series, where I share what it's like to live and work in Edinburgh, Scotland.
