This interview was recorded on the 10th of July, 2023. karrigan is arguably the great in-game leader with the best longevity at the top in Counter-Strike history. He began in 1.6 as a rifler and hybrid AWPer far from the leadership role but would transition in CS:GO to become a dedicated caller. Famed for his mid-round style and putting his stars in their best roles in all of his team, karrigan has racked up quite the haul of trophies. In 2015 his TSM side were one of the few to consistently FNATIC, whose era it was, but were unable to secure the major title. Despite this they ended the year with five trophies won. Becoming Astralis, 2016 was a barren year and a famous crushing win over FNATIC in the quarter-finals of the MLG Columbus major was the a lone high point. The year closed with karrigan benched and gla1ve replacing him, as he moved on to take over the FaZe Clan project. As with most karrigan teams, it didn't take FaZe long to climb from strength to strength and by Spring of 2017, after acquiring super-star talent NiKo, they were routine contenders for the world number one spot. Toppling Astralis at StarSeries S3 looked to have put FaZe on top but then SK reemerged and a legendary battle for titles ensued. Later in 2017, FaZe picked up GuardiaN and olofmeister to compose one of the wildest super-teams CS had ever seen. This new look FaZe won their first two tournaments without dropping a series. SK fought back and took some event titles, but the year ended with FaZe heading into the first major of 2018 as favourites, with SK forced to use a stand-in. Despite reaching championship point at 15:11 on the deciding inferno of the Boston Major, FaZe infamously failed to cross the finish line and saw C9 hoist the trophy. FaZe would win two more events, both with stand-ins, that year before karrigan was benched and eventually released. He went to a mouz project starting over and after an initial tricky six months the Dane had his new squad beating his former teams and eventually winning events, with ESL ProLeague S10 Finals perhaps their most famous triumph. After the dark days of the online era, karrigan returned to FaZe Clan and would help them crack top four at IEM Cologne in the first return to LAN. When ropz joined at the end of 2021 the team was set to really contend for trophies. Winning IEM Katowice, ESL ProLeague S15 and the PGL Antwerp major had karrigan again leading the best team in Counter-Strike and finally acquiring the major win he had been seeking for so long. FaZe has since won IEM Cologne and ESL ProLeague S17, the latter securing an Intel Grand Slam to boot.
