Here is one of the very rarely performed romantic guitar pieces: Giulio Regondi´s Etude in F-Major. It was published as part of a set of six concert studies for the Concertina (Hexameron du Concertiniste). It was also published for guitar as Etude Nr. 4b. The Etude belongs to the kind of arpeggio-plus-melody studies as there are for example the Estudio de concerto No.1 by A. Barrios or F. Tarrega´s Estudio brillante. Regondi´s study is - especially for the left hand of the guitarist - one of the most demanding in the entire repertoire due to extended use of barre in low positions, extreme overstreching and complicated stuff such as diagonal barre. For this reasons a rather free way of phrasing was nessecary for me to perform it. Still some squeks could not be avoided.
