/ ulillillia --- Published on Oct 26, 2014 Have you played any games with a feature where the sky darkens with height and Earth's curvature becomes ever more visible with increasing height? How about a 2D platformer with these kinds of features? Platform Masters has both and they're realistically (though not exactly) replicated very well. The first part of this video just shows how the sky and ground were before the changes. The second part of this video shows the new skies and how the curvature affects the scene at more normal altitudes that you'll encounter, including a simulated view from the highest accessible point in a level where you won't encounter any higher platforms than this. Thus, under normal means, you will get to see the Earth curvature effect. Following this, I get ever higher to show the curvature really taking an effect, the views you'd see from space along with some of the real extremes Platform Masters offers for speed and height (and yet, these speeds and heights only scratch the surface for what's really possible. Why do I even bother adding in the Earth curvature effect? Under normal means, you'll see the effect very clearly in world 10, Sentus Mountains. It also saved about 1.1 MB memory for the day sky, 3 MB for the dusk/dawn sky and about 2 MB for the night skies. It hardly takes up any extra draws until very high up and by then, you can't see any of the lower stuff where it's important. Overall, it's much more advantageous than disadvantageous. Throw in the fact it greatly enhances the realism, why not?
