With names like Biscotti, Macaroon, Scone and Tart, how can you resist? To introduce these sets, we’re bringing you some thread-ucation. Each colorway comes in 50wt, 12wt and embroidery floss. Generally, the higher the number, the thinner the thread. First let’s talk about our Patchwork Set, which includes 50wt thread. 50wt is used for piecing quilts and machine or hand applique. It is 100% cotton and fine enough for your thread to disappear, but thick enough to stay strong and not break. The Egyptian cotton is almost lint free which is better for your machine. It’s thin enough to give perfectly flat seams. Now let’s talk about our Finishing Set, which includes the 12 wt thread. 12 wt cotton thread is ideal for hand or machine quilting your quilts. Big stitch quilting is making a huge comeback. I sewed this quilt using the Tart 12wt Finishing Box. I used the Primitive Gatherings Chenille Needles since the eye on the needles are larger so your thread won’t shred. I love the look of the hand quilting on this and the colors really pop. Last but not least are our AuriFloss sets! Cross Stitch was my first love before Quilting. I use AuriFloss for cross stitching, and it can also be used for hand embroidery. There are six strands and you use 2-3 strands at a time. I use the Primitive Gatherings Chenille Needles with Aurifloss. This is a necklace I made with the Tart colorway Aurifil.
