Rome landmarks lit in red against violence on women

(25 Nov 2021) The Colosseum and the facade of Capitoline Hill in Rome were lit up with red lights on Thursday to mark the International day against violence on women.   A sign reading "International day for the elimination of violence against women" was projected onto the Colosseum, together with the names of women killed and red shoes.   In 2021, in Italy, more than 109 women were killed, an increase of 8 percent compared to last year. Of the victims, 63 women were murdered by their partners and 93 by a member of their household or of their intimate circle, according to the last data of the Ministry of Interior.
