Hazel Creek Steam Engine

An old Orr and Sembower vertical steam engine somewhere near Hazel Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's very difficult to get to - not near any trails. Don't ask me where it is, because I won't tell you. It seems to be in fairly good condition considering how long it has been sitting out in the woods forgotten. There are parts missing, things that would have been useful to people living in this remote area, like pipe. I first discovered this engine while hiking off trail back in 1991. In 2012 I went back (21 years later!) and of course it was still right where I left it, in the same condition. It is so remote and difficult to get to that I think it will probably sit there until it rusts into the ground or a tree falls on it. But it's fun to look at. Enjoy!
