A rare live basement recording has been discovered featuring the legendary Delaware supergroup "Candy." This recording dates back to 1971 and includes an original Candy composition titled "Willow in the Wind." The song is a mysterious love ballad that allows for various interpretations, but no one is willing to reveal who it is about, leaving the meaning up to the listener. Candy was formed by members from five of the top rock bands in Delaware during the late 1960s, consistently winning numerous "Battle of the Bands" competitions in the region. The bands represented were "Sounds Unlimited," "The Elusion," "Mister's Virtue," Head Strong, "A Matter of Time," and "The Menagerie." The group consisted of the following members: Robert Leo Ferry (Vocals, Guitar), David Collins (Vocals, Guitar), **John Hedges (Vocals, Bass Guitar), *Dave Barnes (Vocals, Bass Guitar), Mitchell Alan Godwin (Hammond Organ), Franz Nachod (Drums), and **Quay Rice (Drums). **Note: The original founding member is not present on this recording. Those who experienced their live performances were treated to one of the most powerful and dynamic rock groups to play the Philadelphia and Jersey Shore club circuit. Please enjoy these recordings, as they represent the first of many songs to be unearthed from "Candy," fifty-five years after they made their mark in the Philadelphia/Jersey Shore region. Stay tuned for future music posts showcasing their live and studio recordings. If you are interested in more music from Candy, please make a request at starthrowermusic@gmail.com.
