Bhai Mardana was a close companion and devoted disciple of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. He was a Muslim Rababi (a rebeck player) and played a crucial role in Guru Nanak’s travels (Udasis) by accompanying him with his musical talent, which helped spread Guru Nanak’s spiritual messages through kirtan (devotional music). After partition 1947 bhai Mardana ji family bhai lal ji and other family members move in Pakistan and now they live in Lahore ,Karachi and other cities in Pakistan Legacy of Bhai Mardana 1. First Sikh Musician (Rababi Tradition) – Bhai Mardana is considered the pioneer of the Sikh rababi tradition, which involved Muslim musicians playing devotional kirtan in Sikh gurdwaras.
