Who's A Good Candidate for EMDR and Brainspotting?

I get this statement often, "I've been considering EMDR/Brainspotting but I just don't know if I am a good fit." The conversation then continues to this person feeling as though they don't have enough "trauma criteria" to seek a type of therapy like this. I love this conversation because it allows me to help open up ideas about redefining what trauma is, looking at the universal human condition and that EMDR and brain spotting can benefit just about anyone. While also can help with what we consider bigger traumas, it also fits most peoples lifestyles if you've ever experienced sadness, grief, and loss, nervousness, disruptions in relationships of any kind, performance, anxiety, sleep issues, and more. EMDR and Brainspotting are such different forms of therapy, the experience is much different than your typical talk therapy and can lead to deeper and more, connect insight, to better understand why you feel the way you do certain situations, realizing your response systems to triggers, and how to manage them better. If you or someone you know has ever considered EMDR or Brainspotting, I highly recommend booking an appointment with a trained or certified therapist and try it out! The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources and are used in my own practice with my clients. Many of these techniques come from the founder of Brainspotting, David Grand, and from the work of EMDR creator and founder, Francine Shapiro. I am also Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) certified, and have an additional certification in Fitness and Nutrition Coaching from National Exercise Sports Training Association.
