On election day September 20, 2011 Michael Sata President of the Patriotic Front, PF, was caught up in a near fist fight with Edward Mumbi who once served as PF secretary general. This was at Lusaka Girls School which was one of the polling stations in Lusaka Central Constituency. Sata called Mumbi a political mercenary. Sata tried to go for Mumbi but was stopped by the quick action of electoral officers and some voters who where waiting to vote. The PF leader who was a presidential candidate found it it fit to go round polling stations around Lusaka. What is still not clear is whether the Electoral Act allows anybody especially presidential candidates to go round polling stations as if they are election monitors or observers. But this was allowed by the Electoral Commission of Zambia under Justice Irene Mambilima who at the time was also deputy chief justice. Word taking rounds that time was that Mambilima was promised the job of Chief Justice if she handled the elections 'PROPERLY' in favour of Michael Sata and the PF whatever the circumstances.
