Highest Mountain Northern Ireland Hiking Slieve Donard HD

Northern Ireland Day 3: Today the mission was 1 and only 1 to make it to the top of the biggest mountain in Northern Ireland. I had an early wake up call and after I backed by bag back I had walked to the breakfast main bus station and I had taken a ride bus 520 of 1.5hour to Newcastle coast town South East of Belfast and then a 5 min ride with another bus 37 to Bloody Bridge. The Mourne mountains national park is aprox 46km South East of Belfast between Newry and Newcastle. At 9:45 I had gradually started climbing up from almost sea level following the bloody bridge path and following the river. The weather dry and warm but on the top I could see that the visibility was very poor so I kept going with the hope that the fog will clear out so when I will be at the top to see the view! After 1 hour constant ascending and around elevation 450m I had come across an old quarry and it was a very good spot for a coffee break with my sandwich. As I could hear nothing other than my voice ego. After a good 15min break I kept going now coming at a cross path of the famous Mourne Wall. The path from here turns right and goes all the way to the top of the summit from 550m to 850m in a distance if 0.5km so you can imagine how steep it is ! I had to stop half way up as I was breathless ... After 2.5hrs of ascending at 850m I was at the top of the highest mountain in Northern Ireland! It was about 10 degrees and windy and as it was a good weather lots of others hikers had been there too. All we were waiting for some seconds of a clear hole on the clouds so we can a quick view. I had stayed on the summit for about 45min trying to give some time for a clear view maybe buy I could only get occasional views of the Mournes mountains on the south east but the north west view was fully blocked by the clouds. So around 1:30 I start going down from the other side dif the Mourne Wall which felt much easier now enjoying the occasional views and taking photos. By 2 o'clock I was down to 500m elevation and I decided to take a small diversion to avoid the other hikers and have some mindful time alone and once I saw this place I was speechless ! The rock formations on the right hand side of the path the river valley on the left the purple wild flowers like a carpet and the blue skies above me was like a taste of heaven ! By 3 o'clock and after reaching Devil's Coach road I started returning back. By 4 o'clock I started heading down to Newcastle from the other side of the mountain while the weather had clear out giving some good views of the bay. After a long descending from 855m and highest mountain in Northern Ireland by 5 I was down to sea level at Newcastle beach. I did a short walk around the town and then I taken the bus at 6 o'clock back to Belfast where I call the day off by 8 in the evening.
