Get Close Shenton Safaris’ Kaingo and Mwamba camps are the creations of the Shenton family, a name that carries three generations of wildlife conservation heritage. Derek Shenton, who built Kaingo in 1992 and now runs both camps with his wife Juliet, is the son of Barry Shenton, former Warden of Kafue National Park, and grandson of Capt. Lindsay Shenton, former Warden of Hluhluwe National Park. Kaingo and Mwamba are renowned for their exceptional game viewing, offering a beautiful yet relaxed atmosphere in the heart of the South Luangwa. Our specially designed photographic hides bring you closer than ever to Africa’s wildlife - safely and comfortably. Among the most famous are the Hippo Hide, Elephant Hide, Carmine Bee-eater Hide, and the Last Waterhole Hide. We also operate a number of mobile hides for spontaneous, on-the-spot wildlife action. These hides are regularly used by National Geographic, the BBC, and Discovery Channel for filming wildlife documentaries. South Luangwa has long been celebrated as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world - and for good reason. The concentration of game along the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is among the most intense in Africa. Shenton Safaris is located deep within one of the park’s richest wildlife areas. The regions surrounding our camps are especially abundant in big cats, with around ten resident leopards and three active lion prides: the Mwamba-Kaingo Pride, the Kapanda Pride, and the Hollywood Pride - so named for the many hours filmmakers have spent documenting their stories. www.shentonsafaris.com
