In this video, we’re demonstrating how to install a hydraulic clutch in a 67-72 C10 pickup. For our C10 project, we’re replacing the old automatic transmission with a Tremec TKX manual, and for the clutch linkage we’ll be using a hydraulic throwout bearing. The Speedway Motors conversion kit simplified this process by bolting onto the firewall on the pedal assembly studs, and adapted the ¾” bore master cylinder to help actuate our throwout bearing. The next step was installing a clutch pedal, and setups vary across the different variations of trucks made around this time, but we were able to use a pedal assembly that made it quick and easy so we wouldn’t have to wrestle the whole thing from under the dashboard. After installing the clutch pedal, we added the plate that would bolt up the master cylinder. You can do this solo, but it’s easier to have an extra pair of hands to coordinate like we did here. With everything assembled, we then needed to set up a hydraulic throwout bearing by making some measurements to determine how much we would need to shim. Once that’s complete, the final step is to give it a little bleed, and you have yourself a hydraulic clutch on your C10.
