Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Very mild morning temperatures are once present because of some clouds absorbing some of yesterday's warmth from escaping into space with some gusty winds for some mixing that air around, but dry surface air remains. Air temperatures in the north are starting off mostly from around the 20s to the 40s, while elsewhere to the south, air temperatures are mostly ranging from the upper 30s to even the low 60s! Slightly cooler air for most out east will be in store today because of the clouds with an easterly component in the winds, but way-above-normal high temperatures will once again be set. Areas from East New Mexico to the Pecos River Valley area will range from the high 60s to the 80s from north to south from high to low elevation. Slightly gustier west-southwesterly winds than yesterday from aloft will go up, over, and down the southeast-sloped mountain faces out west, gusting up to at least 25-45 mph, leading to the very mild process at the surface in this area as a result. The northern higher elevations will range from the high 40s to the 50s, while the northern valley floors to western and central areas will mostly range from the upper 60s to the 80s. Fire weather chances will be slightly higher today with the elevated fire threat conditions in local areas. The ridge of high pressure, also responsible for the warming process ahead, is starting to break down as it's steering in some clouds with stronger west-southwesterly downsloping winds, with some patchy blowing dust and some reduced visibility occasionally as a result. Record to near-record high temperatures will still fall for many today with dry air and some breezy conditions occasionally before the next cooler pattern gradually arrives tomorrow with some sporadic rain and very high elevation snow in northern areas. However, temperatures will remain above average for most even with the even bigger cooldown later this week.
