Nonstructural damage has historically accounted for 25-50% of the damage observed in recent earthquakes in the United States. This seminar clarifies what non-structural components are, what the code requires in regards to seismic restraint, and discusses typical bracing schemes. A major portion of the discussion revolves around what submittals should be provided to local building departments, as more jurisdictions are enforcing seismic restraint requirements.
