Different piston-engine configurations animated (Inline, VR, V, Boxer, Flat, W, double-VR)

Simple animation to show different configurations of piston engines, which are used in the automotive application. VR-engines are used in different VW-models. The Boxer-engine is well known to be used in the Porsche 911-models or in the Subaru Impreza. The Flat-engine or V-engine with 180° cylinder bank angle were used in the Ferrari 512 BB and Testarossa, as well as in the Porsche 917 race car. The true W-engine has too much disadvantages, so it only saw the light of the day in concept cars such as the Bugatti EB218, EB18.3 Chiron and first Veyron Concept. The double-VR engine which is often mistakenly called W-engine is used mainly in the VW-group as W12 and in the Bugatti cars as a W16.
