The opening weekend of UK Black History Month (october 3rd) saw the two part launch event of BLM Fest, a company highlighting the Black experience via the arts, activism, education, sports, joy, conversations and healing. The annual festival (2022)is open for all to attend and will centre self-care to actively support the well-being of Black artists, activists and audiences in the midst of systemic and everyday anti-Black racism. We redefine what you think when you hear Black lives matter by giving a global platform to the voices, visions and aspirations of Black creatives, professionals, academics, and others working across different sectors and at every scale - from those with an international following to grassroots activists. This work will create a global network of Black cultural producers and change makers. BLM Fest is vital for spotlighting their work to global audiences, and national and international arts organisations. We know that in the UK alone, over 35k people donated to BLMUK because they wanted to be a part of change.
