Pornic offers a pleasant cocktail, with its fishing and pleasure ports, coves and sandy beaches, including those of the Noveillard and the Source, its postcard-like castle and its medieval old town. Pornic, a seaside resort in Loire-Atlantique, owes its fame to its proximity to Nantes, which has made it one of its favourite beaches. Located in the heart of the Loire region, the commune is located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, some twenty kilometres from Saint-Nazaire. The rise of Pornic came in the 19th century with the development of seaside tourism. The arrival of the train in 1875 encouraged this economic and tourist development. From these times many personalities are the personalities to appreciate the charms of this ancient Breton city, like Gustave Flaubert, Auguste Renoir, or Julien Gracq.
