Today we are just outside Sandbach, starting from Winterley Pool we follow a circular route around Haslington. Lots of paths over the fields plus the option to stop for a break at the Hawk Inn a 16th century coaching inn which lies right on our route. The Route Starting from Winterley Pool on Crewe Road, head down the side of the pool at the end take the footpath on left across the field to Holmshaw lane, cross the road and continue on the path on the other side over a field and down the track. Take the right hand turn off the track on the path to Park Road where we turn left into Haslington. This brings us to Crewe Road in the middle of Haslington close to the Hawk Inn which is a lovely 16th Century Coaching Inn, it would make an ideal spot for a break. Now turn left on Crewe Road until you reach Oakland Avenue, head down Wellesley Avenue and then right into Primrose Avenue. There are a few options at this point. 1/ For a shorter route, just follow Primrose Avenue to the Dingle, Clay lane and Kent’s Green Lane. 2/ The route I took, turn left into Pool Meadows Road and take the path that crosses the main road and crosses Bradeley Hall Road 3/ Follow the route I did but avoid the first road crossing and the first rough bit of path that gets very wet in winter by passing the Pool Meadows road turn and taking the left turn into Bradeley Hall Road instead and pick up the path on the right on the far side of the bridge. Continuing on the path after crossing Bradeley Hall Road, we follow the path across the fields to Maw Lane, there are several electric fences, note they have covered these with plastic tube where the path crosses them. At the far end head through the farm yard and cross Maw lane and take the path on the other side. The path goes straight on across a field and crosses a stile at which point the path splits either left or straight on, we are going straight on which crosses the field to Clay lane. At Clay lane there are 2 options, either take the path straight on like I did or turn left and then right on the path by the fishery, the paths join up, I only mention the fishery path as there were some curious cows in the field who followed me which some might not feel comfortable with. The path comes out on the main road, cross with care and take the path which comes out on Newtons lane. Turn right and then left into Kent’s Green Lane, at the end turn left into Crewe Road near Winterley pool.
