Indian army has been hunting for modern carbines for many years. Back in October 2020, The deal for 93,895 Close Quarter Carbines (CQBs) with United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s government-owned small arms manufacturer Caracal was shortlisted. Meanwhile, DRDO has cleared the final user trial of 5.56 X 30 Mm Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) meeting all parameters. As per Defense Ministry, the JVPC has successfully met stringent performance criteria of reliability and accuracy along with the quality trials conducted by DGQA. This is a big breaking news for Indian Army as It could pave the way for its induction sooner into Indian Army. The last set of trials were performed in extreme whether conditions of extreme hot temperature and cold high altitude condition. The Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) is an Indian submachine gun designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment of DRDO and manufactured by the Ordnance Factory Board at Small Arms Factory, Kanpur and Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli. JVPC is a gas operated semi-bull-pup automatic weapon having rate of fire more than 800rpm. It has effective range of more than 200m and weighs about 3kgs. Following the design from machine pistols like Uzi, the JVPC has a pistol grip allowing it to be fired with one hand. It allows the 30-rounds of grip inserted magazine. Its unique features like low recoil, semi bull-pup design, retractable butt & optimal bullet design which makes it very potent weapon for counter insurgency/counter terrorism operations by security forces. The weapon has already passed the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) and its procurement action is initiated by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and many other state police organizations. While these indigenously build carbines will give edge over counter insurgency/terrorist activities, it will also be cost effective and develop a new weapon ecosystem in our country. ==========WHOMSOEVER IT MAY CONCERN============= Most of the pictures clip or BGM included in the Video Belongs to their Respected Owners and we do not claim rights.
