Thrifty Antique & Vintage Treasures Discovered at Giant Flea Market!

I have sold at the giant semi-annual Packwood Flea Market in the Washington mountains, but this time I finally had the chance to simply shop. We begin in the first fields—a tree-lined grove and a wide-open prairie—where antique and vintage treasures are mixed among booths offering anything you can imagine. For more than half a century, people have come here to buy, sell, and wander through this small town, now overflowing with goods. At the Community Center, we discover our first booth of quality vintage at prices worth taking home: Treasure Craft figures for $15 each, an arts-and-crafts print for $20, colorful Fulper candleholders, and a classic 1950s canister set. These finds send us directly back to the van to unload! Jewelry is plentiful, but our hands are truly full after greeting old friends and building a large bundle pile in a log cabin filled with vintage. Boy Scout collectibles, Fenton glass, tobacco tins, and Mustang emblems lead the way, followed by an Enesco sports car cigarette set, a patriotic Admiral Dewey album, Imari porcelains, and even a slot machine we wish we could carry home. Across the road, we meet friends selling roadside signs, old radios, and the googly-eyed shot glasses I collect. A miniature Pottery Craft vase is a surprising discovery, along with a stylish WWII plane remnant. We also admire a mid-century bicycle restoration, explore primitives and farm antiques, and enjoy porcelain vases and even a quirky alternative to Jarts that might sell on eBay. I am not the only shopper finding deals here! One friend buys an industrial lantern for one-third of its value, another grabs a cream separator for $150, and a Renwal model I admired sells to a collector for $60. This market is huge, and for good reason—antique and vintage finds are everywhere, waiting for new homes. We return to the van once more to pack our purchases, knowing we still have half of this marvelous event ahead.
