For the past few months, COVID-19 has impacted the lives of many in the communities we serve. As our country begins to re-open, the safety of our patients, staff and clinicians will remain our highest priority. Next to that, we also want you to feel as comfortable as possible before, during, and after having a surgery. That’s why we’d like to tell you about the extra safety steps we have in place, and what to expect when you’re with us. Prior to your arrival date, your doctor or someone from our staff will call you to take you through your surgery. They’ll ask you some health-related questions and, answer any questions you may have. We know how important it is to have support. So, be sure to ask about bringing a family member or friend. Your doctor will also want you to be tested for COVID-19 between 48 and 72 before your surgery, and to self-isolate afterward until you come in. When you arrive for your surgery, we’ll take your temperature and ask you again a series of health-related questions. We just want to make sure nothing has changed since you last spoke with our staff. Inside our hospitals, everyone is required to wear a mask. If you don’t have a mask, we are happy to provide one for you. We have also redesigned our main waiting areas to support physical distancing, including creating additional space between seating. To further help ensure your safety and comfort, our facilities have put in place enhanced cleaning and sanitization efforts. This includes disinfectant procedures in every care setting, throughout the day. As always, our staff and clinicians wash their hands frequently, and we encourage you to do the same. It’s one of the best ways to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases, like COVID-19. We look forward to taking care of you, and will continue to do everything we can to help keep you safe, and put your mind at ease. DignityHealth.org | Hellohumankindness.org
