The two leading causes of hearing loss in adults are age and excessive noise exposure. Both age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) and noise-induced hearing loss lead to high-frequency hearing loss in later adulthood. When fitting hearing aids to a high frequency hearing loss, there are certain strategies employed in both the physical fit as well as how the hearing aids are programmed to the loss. But not everyone has a hearing loss due to age or noise-exposure. In this month's webinar, Dr. Caitlyn Whitson is going to discuss other types and configurations of hearing losses as well as considerations for those hearing losses that do not fit into the "typical" pattern. Examples include: cookie bite, rising or reverse-slope, reverse cookie bite, unilateral, and asymmetric hearing loss.
