In line with the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab to make Punjab a crime-free state, Punjab Police remains committed to eradicating organized crime. Commissioner of Police Amritsar, Sh. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network behind arms smuggling and supply from Uttar Pradesh. The police are working to identify the entire purchase and supply chain to dismantle the network. The arrested accused have previously been booked in 12 criminal cases including attempt to murder, Arms Act, and robbery. Among them, Navdeep Nav, Jasandeep Jassa, and Shivam Babblu were absconders in 06 attempt to murder cases. These accused were also involved in five recent attempt to murder incidents in the city. Amritsar / April 22 Under the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, and DGP Gaurav Yadav, Amritsar Commissionerate Police exposed an inter-state arms smuggling and organized crime gang, arresting four individuals and recovering five sophisticated pistols. The arrested individuals have been identified as: 1. Navdeep Singh alias Nav, son of Gurdev Singh, resident of Gopal Nagar, Majitha Road, Amritsar (25 years old) 2. Ujjwal Hans, son of Manohar Lal, resident of PWD Complex, Batala Road, Amritsar (24 years old) 3. Jasandeep Singh alias Jassa, son of Jasbir Singh, resident of village Dhoopsari (ਧੁਪਸੜੀ), Verka Bypass, Amritsar (21 years old) 4. Shivam Singh alias Babblu, son of Hukam Singh, resident of Uttarakhand, currently residing at 88 Feet Road, Lakshmi Vihar, Majitha Road, Amritsar (24 years old) Sharing details of the operation, CP Amritsar, Sh. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar revealed that based on secret information about illegal arms being smuggled into the state from Uttar Pradesh for supply to criminal elements, multiple police teams under the supervision of DCP Investigation Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, ADCP Investigation Jagbinder Singh, and ACP Detective Harminder Singh, led by Inspector Amolkdeep Singh (In-charge CIA Staff-1), successfully apprehended the accused from the jurisdiction of Ranjit Avenue Police Station. During interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed that they procured weapons from an unidentified individual in Lucknow, U.P, and supplied them to anti-social elements. Investigations are underway to uncover the entire network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers, as well as to trace the total number of weapons procured by the gang so far. In this regard, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar under FIR No. 40 dated 21-04-2025, under Sections 308(5) of BNS and 25/27(3)/54/59-A of the Arms Act.
