Great Western Railway Intercity Express Train (IET) unit 800022 in the United Kingdom has been named in honour of the late Gurkha soldier Tul Bahadur Pun, VC.  About Tul Bahadur Pun VC Tul Bahadur Pun was a Nepalese Gurkha who was awarded the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest military award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.  VC Action: As a Rifleman at only 21 years old, he displayed "outstanding courage and superb gallantry" during an attack on a Japanese-held railway bridge at Mogaung, Burma (now Myanmar) on June 23, 1944. When most of his platoon was wiped out, he single-handedly charged a heavily bunkered position, killed three enemy soldiers, and put five more to flight, capturing two machine guns and enabling his comrades to advance. Legacy: After the war, he rose to the rank of Honorary Lieutenant and later became a prominent figure in the Gurkha Justice Campaign, fighting for Gurkha veterans' rights to settle in the UK alongside actress Joanna Lumley. Train Naming: Great Western Railway named an Intercity Express Train after him on June 23, 2021, to mark the 75th anniversary of his heroic action and to honour World War II heroes. A special inauguration ceremony was held at Paddington Station in London.  ‪@KasthamanDuB‬
