We’ve had exceptional luck with our Super Dutys over the years, but they have two major drawbacks: the death wobble and the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump. If you’re unfamiliar with the Bosch CP4 issue, the short version is that this pump was made in Europe, which has different diesel than in the States. Over the years, as the US has gotten stricter on environmental regulations, our diesel has been stripped of many of the lubricants that make the CP4 pump work properly. If or when it fails, the metal shrapnel is sent through the fuel system, creating an issue that can cost up to 15k to repair. 😱 GM and Dodge moved away from the CP4 pump years ago, making Super Duty truck owners even more frustrated. So what’s a Ford owner to do? There are three steps to take, depending on your budget and how long you plan on keeping the truck.
