This critically acclaimed movie is based on the famous Oriya novel 'Aseema' written by the noted Oriya poet and novelist Sailaja Kumari Aparajita Mohanty. The story revolves around Professor Aseema Patnayak (Gracy Singh), living in Anandpur, Orissa, who is compelled to re-locate to Cuttack after she enters into a conflict with a male professor. After shifting to Cuttack, she meets with an accident and is hospitalized where she is treated with love and care by the doctor duo, Manjula and Ishwar Rai (Aseem Merchant), who are siblings. After knowing about the struggling story of Aseema, Ishwar gets attracted to her. Despite being told that she is a divorcée and a mother of a young daughter, he proposes to her eventually. Aseema loves him secretly, which is well evident in the happiness she derives out of reading his proposal letter again and again. Probably, she understands her responsibility of being a single mother, and she is afraid that she would be disgraced by the society and so, she rejects his proposal. Subsequently, Ishwar separates himself from her and leaves Cuttack with a broken heart. Ten years later, her daughter, Gudiya, wants to re-locate to Mumbai in order to obtain her master's degree. They move to Mumbai, and this is when Ishwar re-enters her life. Shortly thereafter, Aseema is shocked to find out that Gudiya (Neha Pendse) is wasting her precious moments with her boyfriend, Vikram (Aryan Singh) instead of concentrating on her studies. Ishwar quickly intervenes, by meeting Vikram and convincing the couple to prioritize education in their lives. After a while, Vikram introduces Gudiya to his uncle. Who is Vikram's uncle?
