A very late Calif. Zephyr #6 in Ft. Morgan on 21FEB2026

This California Zephyr #6 made its station stop in Fort Morgan at 0810 MST (11 hrs. & 43 min. tardy due to heavy snows and other rail equipment breakdowns in the Donner Pass region). P42s #148 & #10 provided the power to this 8-car consist which is running in reverse order behind the baggage car. The train was brought to a stop with car 5 (sightseer/lounge at the platform ramp. There was no passenger activity, yet the operating crew had a change in engine crew. It gave Dave a chance to chat with the videographer and check out the ice surface. We decided the surface was not ready for speed skating (in our case, non-skate sliding). With the crew change completed, the high ball was given and on a clear signal at east Ft. Morgan CP, the #6 Zephyr was off into the sun with the next stop being McCook, NE. My thanks to the operating crew for the greetings today. Everyone please stay safe! Temp: 24 F. feels like 23 F.
