For many of us, it’s easy to assume that once communities are connected, opportunity will naturally follow. In reality, the Internet is a double-edged sword; it can empower, but it can also exclude those without the skills, confidence, and support to use it safely and effectively. That’s why Atma Connect launched the Women-Helping-Women Towards Economic Inclusion program in Serang, Indonesia, to ensure women entrepreneurs on the urban periphery could truly benefit from it. Through hands-on digital training and peer support, women-led small businesses learned how to market products online, improve production and sales efficiency, and expand their reach beyond their local communities.
