We put several nest boxes back into this cage. With a little hope, these old lovebirds are interested in breeding again. We put small slices of wood as the base of this nest box. After that, we put some dry pine leaves on top so that the lovebird eggs wouldn't be buried in a pile of wood chips, and if the eggs hatched then the lovebird chicks would have a safe base to exercise the strength of their legs. Sometimes, if you use wooden slices for the base of the lovebird nest box, the lovebirds will like to chew on the wood. And if this happens in just a month, the pieces of wood will have turned into coarse powder. And if the egg is on a base like that, then it is very easy to get buried, and the lovebird becomes uninterested in incubating it. Pieces of wood are one of the best and cheapest bases for a nest box, because they can absorb the moist dirt of the baby birds that will hatch later. Meanwhile, placing dry pine leaves on top is to prevent the eggs from rolling and to keep the eggs in place. Lovebirds will munch on those dry pine needles, but it will take longer. And as I mentioned earlier, a pile of dry pine leaves is a safe base for training the strength of the legs of lovebird chicks later, to prevent lovebird chicks from growing with their legs spread apart. Of course, there are many other ways to prevent lovebird chicks from becoming straddle-legged. You can put a tool for it, like a wire but made of plastic. You can look for it on e-commerce or a pet shop near where you live. Or, you can take the lovebird chick, then put it in a pile of cloth, then every day you feed the lovebird chick. This is usually done by people, one of the goals is for the lovebird chicks to become tame and not afraid of humans.
